Why you need to renew your ROS Digital Cert
 
 

All ROS certificates issued or renewed before 10 September 2016 will expire on 11 December 2017.  You have to renew your certificate before then according to Revenue. HMRC online services - 2 step verification now mandatory
 
 

From this month, HMRC are making it mandatory that all businesses using their online tax accounts register for 2 Step Verification (“2SV”), if not already using it. Self-assessment online filing exclusions – update on exclusion 60
 

To date we have carried a number of updates in Chartered Accountants Tax News on exclusions from and issues with online self-assessment filing for 2016-17. HMRC have now provided details of a workaround for exclusion 60. Exclusion 60 may apply if a taxpayer has disposed of chargeable assets in 2016/17 which have resulted in no gain/no loss.

European Parliament report says Panama Papers taken seriously by all Member States
 
 

The European Parliament recently published a report on the capabilities of EU Member States in tackling tax avoidance and evasion, and reviews measures taken in response to the Panama Papers. The report finds that all the Member States have taken the Panama Papers leak seriously, and have been proactive in identifying whether their citizens and domestic companies were implicated.
